 Title: Reveal Artist: 2nd Moon Genre: Pop, Rock Release Date: 28th August 2009 Label: Toolboxx Records Album Review Starting under the name AB2 at first, the North German Rock formation has been known as 2ND MOON since 2007. Besides their own project, the band members play in the most successful U2 tribute band ACHTUNG BABY. After the single releases of `Tiny Little Pills´ and `The Place´, the first self-written long-player `Reveal´ is in the starting blocks. According to 2ND MOON´s announcements, the 11 tracks on `Reveal´ are stylistically influenced by artists such as INXS, HOOBASTANK, SNOW PATROL and U2. When I listened to the album for the first time, exactly these bands came to my mind. It is certain that Marc Schülert (vocals), Carsten Stiehr (guitars), Andreas Hellwig (bass) and Hans Seelenmeyer (drums) are talented musicians and able to write straight Rock songs with a lot of Pop appeal - perfect radio music which will also work live on stage. The track `Tiny Little Pills´ doesn’t only display an appropriate catchy soundscape, but also some substance concerning the lyrics, as it issues social consequences of pharmacophilia wrapped in lively Rock / Pop sounds. The solemn ballad `Lay down´ - which is my favourite song on the album - comes up with an anthemic chorus scoring with the passionate vocals and an impressive guitar playing. All in all, I didn’t skip any track, as in my opinion the long-player doesn’t contain any bad one. Therefore, I didn’t notice any lows, but there is only one point of criticism: As Schülert´s vocals are that similar to U2-front man BONO (as well as Stiehr´s guitar parts strongly remind me of THE EDGE), the average listener may think that he or she is listening to new stuff of the Irish cult band.
